We also offer classes in Iaido (Japanese swordsmanship).
Chief Instructor Michael Baron has been training in Iaido since 1997, and was a close student of the late Mitsunari Kanai Shihan.
We study mainly Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido, but also teach a comprehensive body of Iaido including Omori Ryu, Shindo Munen Ryu, Hosoda Ryu, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu, Toyama Ryu, and Seitei Iai.
Find out about our Introduction to Iaido program. This is a three month course where students will learn one basic Iaido set, terminology, etiquette, and the basic cutting and re-sheating of the Japanese sword. The August course is underway, so please register now for our next semesters course.
"Iaido is the art of drawing the sword and cutting in a single move. It dates back to feudal Japan and appears to have been structured by Jinsuke Hayashizaki in the XVIth century. Iaido is practiced in the form of katas (sequence of codified moves)."
- Claude Berthiaume Sensei
